We are having the most amazing summer term at Excel Performing Arts with the highlight being our annual show ‘Exceltricity’ which was held at the Sandpit Theatre in St Albans.
Nearly two hundred Excel students took part in the show which was an exciting and entertaining mix of performing arts including ballet, tap, lyrical contemporary dance, jazz, commercial street, hip hop dance as well as drama and singing. With dazzling costumes and fantastic choreography, ‘Exceltricity’ was a show where the most amazing, special memories were made.
Not only is it great fun to perform in a show but there are also very important skills that our students learn also. Being part of a team and learning how to work together to make the show amazing whilst being supportive and understanding to others is very valuable. Students also learn expressive skills and how to engage the audience as well as all the technical skills. The sense of achievement that students feel after they have performed in front of an audience is so important for confidence building, and the special moments backstage and on stage become memories that last a lifetime.
Showtime always brings the Excel family together and we are so grateful for all the support we get from parents helping backstage.
Since the show there has been no rest. The Excel Performance students performed in a show called ‘Dancemania’ at the Alban Arena. This is a fantastic event that showcases local talent. Lots of different dance schools in St Albans and Hertfordshire also performed and it was a lovely friendly show to be part of.
We also invited professional dancer and choreographer Reiss Hinds to guest teach at Excel Performing Arts. We think it is important to give students opportunities to experience different teachers and dance styles. Reiss brought his brilliant energy and vibe to Excel and the students absolutely loved it.
We have had lots of new students join Excel this summer term since the show and it has been great getting to know everyone as they start their Excel journey with us. We offer a free trial class so do check out our timetable and get in touch if you would like your child to try any of our classes.
