Excel in Lockdown
After nearly sixteen weeks of teaching online, we will be finishing for the summer break after the last classes on Saturday 18th July.
We would like to say a huge thank you to all of the students that have joined us online for the last sixteen weeks. We are so proud of every one of them for adapting to being taught in this way and being committed and dedicated to their dance classes throughout this time. It has been a difficult, worrying and confusing time for many of us and our younger generation has been affected enormously. We hope that the online classes have brought a sense of normality, routine and connection for our students during lockdown and played a part in helping them cope. It has been lovely to always be greeted with big smiles at the beginning of each class and it has felt like we are all one big family in this together.
We are also understanding if your child didn’t take to online classes. We know for some it was difficult but look forward to welcoming everyone back to Excel.
We will definitely look back at all of the fun challenges we set the students and smile. We have loved seeing what the students come up with and one of our favourites has to be the #getfamilydancing challenge which is guaranteed to make anyone watching it smile. We will be putting all of the films on our YouTube channel and video page. Already the ‘Excel in lockdown’ one is there.
There have been lots of very positive things to come out of lockdown and the one to one singing lessons has to be one of them. We have been very impressed with the students that have taken up this opportunity to work on their singing and all of them have grown in confidence and improved massively. With Steven, they are building up a repertoire of songs that they can confidently perform and sing with confidence. We will be continuing with these lessons for those that would like to continue after lockdown. If you are interested in finding out more information for your child, please let me know.
Classes from September
Of course we are desperate to get back to normal classes and thrilled that the government has given the green light to return. There will be some differences which I will explain more thoroughly nearer to September but for now we are enjoying the moment.
Saturday classes will start back on Saturday 5th September at Bowmansgreen School, London Colney, St Albans.
There will be a reduced timetable for other classes online starting back on Wednesday 2nd September until Friday 11th September. (I know we thought we had seen the last of online classes but it is just for this short period as we stagger the return back to normal classes).
All classes will then return at Bowmansgreen School from Monday 14th September.
IDTA Recognition
Lastly, in case you haven’t seen our social media I am delighted to let you know the IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association) to which we are full members of, are recognising the dedication of all of the dancers who have continued to attend dance classes online during the lockdown. We are thrilled that we are able to apply for an official IDTA certificate for every one of our dancers who have joined us online. It is completely free and it will be a memory to keep from this time that students might look back on one day. We will present the certificates to our students next term when we are all back together.
We hope that you all get the chance to enjoy the summer break with no home schooling and we absolutely cannot wait until we see our Excel family again.
The Excel office will be open throughout the summer holidays for new enquiries but will be operating on limited hours. Please use the contact page to get in touch.
