The weekend of 21st and 22nd May 2022 was a very special weekend at Excel Performing Arts as it was when our annual show ‘Excelebration’ took place at the Sandpit Theatre, St Albans.

Excelebration should have taken place back in May 2020 but because of the pandemic lockdown,
the preparations were abruptly halted and the students had to quickly accept their disappointment and learn how to adapt by taking dance classes online.

Featuring the talent of a hundred and eighty children from age three to eighteen years old, Excelebration was an exciting mix of ballet, tap, street hip hop dance, jazz, contemporary, drama and singing. There were over 400 dazzling costumes as well as some amazing special effects.

The atmosphere backstage was so supportive with lots of parents helping to make it a wonderful fun, experience for everyone.

Excelebration exceeded all of our expectations. For some students it was their very first Excel show, and for others it was their 10th, but with everything the students have been through over the last couple of years with lockdowns and having to isolate, it felt absolutely wonderful to see everyone smiling on stage performing to their family and friends.
