We are full members of the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA) and offer optional exams which usually take place in the autumn term before Christmas. The IDTA graded (from grade 1) and vocational graded qualifications are recognised by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) and appear on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).
We currently offer grade and medal exams in Ballet, Tap, and Musical Theatre. Our exam results are always exceptional which is a reflection of the commitment, dedication and hard work of our students.
The students can also work towards the Excel medals in Bronze, Silver and Gold.
We feel it is extremely important to offer performing opportunities to the students. All students have the opportunity to perform in our annual show every year which takes place in a theatre in the summer term. It is a wonderful opportunity for students to showcase their talents and it is always the highlight of the Excel calendar.
If students are taking at least two classes with Excel then they qualify to be part of the Performance and Technique class. This is an exciting class that learn a repertoire of choreographed dance pieces that they go on to perform at various events and represent Excel Performing Arts. The students learn professional etiquette, and gain performance experience all year round. It is a disciplined, challenging and committed class.
The Performance class students perform at various events which include ‘Larks in the Park’ and several summer and Christmas Fairs. We are also very honoured for our students to have performed at the St. Albans Christmas Lights switch on show as well as performing at the Excel exam presentation show each year.
