This classical dance style is known throughout the world for its beauty and strength.
It is an excellent introduction to the dance world for younger students as it not only teaches them to achieve excellent posture, balance, strength, and grace, it also allows children to develop as dancers through free expressive movement, mime and using their imagination.
Ballet students at Excel can develop their skills by taking optional grade exams and medals with the IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association).
The aim of these classes is to teach good technique throughout the warm up and to explore all sorts of different jazz/street/contemporary dance styles.
In these classes we use lots of current chart music that students are familiar with which makes it very popular amongst students. Most of all we have lots of fun!
This class is brilliant for building confidence and improving communication skills whilst learning to working in a team. We actively encourage students to use their imagination through improvisations and drama games. The drama classes will get to do scripted work as a group and as individuals, also developing ideas through improvisation and workshops which build into the student’s own work. A lot of fun and laughter takes place in these classes!
We also work on general singing technique and cover a wide range of song styles.
Tap is a great way to improve a dancer’s rhythm and musicality and it is a lot of fun too. Where else do children get away with making noise but in a tap class?
This popular style is danced around the world by people young and old, whether they are beginners or professional.
Tap is as popular today as it was in the days of the great Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly musicals. Classics such as 42nd Street, Crazy for You, and the more recent Stomp, Billy Elliot and Tap Dogs highlight the great diversities of style and music in tapping.
At Excel we offer optional grade and medal exams with the IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association).
The Performance & Technique class is a specific, committed class of students that learn a repertoire of performance pieces that they go on to perform at various events and represent ‘Excel Performing Arts’. Students have to be doing at least two other dance classes (one of which has to be Jazz) with Excel to qualify for this class. For more information about this class please contact us.
